Strategies and Settle

Strategies is the centre tab of the app: rules that trade for you on a key that cannot withdraw. Most of it is in a closed test today. This page says what is open, what is coming, and what will not change.

What is open today

The Strategies tab has three sections — Overview, Settle and Ask — and everyone can open all three.

SettleClosed test, open only to a small test group. Everyone else sees a short description and a note that it is not open to them yet.
AskOpening to accounts gradually. If it is not open to yours yet, it says so.
The rule labComing. No one can write a rule yet.
Up or Down paper rulesOpen to everyone, on paper only: arming a sample rule places nothing.
Perps rulesLater, and without a key: every perps trade will wait for your signature.

Settle

Settle is a basket of outcomes the market prices as near-certain, bought at your price and held until each one settles — on your own wallet, with a key that can trade and never withdraw. It comes in two tiers, Steady and Bold; Bold pays more when it works and loses more when a market misses.

It is in a closed test while it is measured. When it opens, you will see the basket, what a round and a year could do — losses included — and the terms before anything is signed. Every run starts as a dry run that plans orders and places none; real orders need a separate, explicit step.

Risk

Not guaranteed — markets can settle against you, and some years end below zero. A near-certain price is still a price: when one of those outcomes misses, the stake on it is lost.

The rule lab

The rule lab is not built yet. When it is, a rule you write starts on paper, graded against the market’s own price. Each larger step opens only when the rule has beaten the market after fees, over enough graded windows to mean something. Most rules never get there — that is the point.

Until then, the closest thing is Arm next on an Up or Down window’s Sequencer, which arms a sample rule on paper. It places nothing, is kept on this device, and reports no results yet.

The key a strategy runs on

A strategy runs on a separate trading key that you authorize with your own wallet’s signature. Polymarket lets it place and cancel orders and nothing else: it cannot withdraw or transfer. It lasts up to about 180 days.

Pause and revoke

  • Pause — instant, from Polydict. Cancels resting orders, then deletes Polydict’s copy of the key.
  • Revoke — your signature. Ends the key on Polymarket itself.

A key that can trade can still lose money by trading. The full detail is in Trading keys for automated strategies.
